On Saturday September 17th we held our September Festival Outreach.  This event was intended to re-introduce ourselves to the community.  We had lots of barbequed food, a moon bounce for the kids and live contemporary Christian music.  There was no charge for the event because we wanted to simply bless the neighborhood. Lots of neighborhood kids came by. A few almost never left the moon bounce, they bounced all day!  Neighbors came by and enjoyed some food, some neighbors we know and new neighbors.

But the event was much more than food and fun, God was at work touching hearts.  The clergy and some parishioners were ready to talk and pray with our visitors. We had several interactions with people who had troubles of one sort or another who received consolation and prayer.  A few people said that they need to return to church and that they would come and visit.

The pinnacle of the event was the live music played out doors.  Fr. Matt played drums and brought some other friends that he has performed with in the past, Kate and Steve Misserochi and Todd Schneider.  The band was great and played music by Matt Maher, Leeland, and other contemporary Christian artists.  They also played a few songs of their own.  The sound of melodies rang through the air and some of our neighbors listed from their front porches.  Everyone's spirit was lifted.

Almost everybody from church showed up at some point or another to pitch in and help, from setting up to cooking to breaking down, everyone happily pitched in.  The event was a wonderful success and we all look forward to doing it again.  And we will.  More events are being planned and will be announced, like retreats, marriage seminars and more music events.  Stay tuned.
