The End of the World?

We see them all around us, bill boards and advertisements by followers of Harold Camping claiming that the End of the World is upon us and will begin this Saturday, May 21st.  Well, I am preaching this Sunday and preparing a sermon in the event that we are still here.  In all fairness to Mr. Camping, he claims that an earthquake will occur on this day and that it will mark the beginning of the end.  But the fact is that the assumptions this brand of Protestant teaching is based on is only about 100 years old and does not reflect historic Christian teaching on the subject.  A much better treatment on the subject by N.T. Wright, Anglican Bishop of Durham is provided with the link here.
